Olympic torch flame to arrive in UK for relay

The Olympic flame is due to arrive in the UK on Friday evening, on board British Airways Flight BA2012, at Cornish airbase RNAS Culdrose. A welcoming ceremony will be held.

David Beckham and Princess Anne to help bring Olympic flame from Athens to UK

English footballer David Beckham and Princess Anne, president of the British Olympic Association and a former Olympian, will formally accept the Olympic Torch at the official handover ceremony in the historic Panathenaic Stadiumin in Athens tomorrow, May 17.  The two will also carry the flame in a lantern off a specially commissioned plane onto UK soil in Cornwall on Friday evening.

The Orbit unveiled at London 2012 Olympic Park

The Orbit, Britain's largest piece of public art, has been unveiled in east London between the Olympic Stadium and the Aquatics Centre. Designed by Anish Kapoor and Cecil Balmond, the 115 metres (377 ft) high tower provides visitors with panoramic views of the whole Olympic Park and the rest of the city from two observation platforms.
