Olympic flame ‘goes out’ as cauldron is transferred

The Olympic TorchThe Olympic flame, which is supposed to be burning for the entire duration of the Olympic Games, was extinguished on Sunday evening for safety reasons as the cauldron was transferred to another part of the Olympic Stadium. Olympic organisers confirmed the reports after some eyewitness raised concerns when they saw the cauldron unlit at around  11.14pm on Sunday.

Danny Boyle’s London 2012 opening extravaganza to be shortened

The Olympic TorchWith just eight days to go before the 2012 London Olympics officially open in a grand opening ceremony, organizers decided to chop off some portions of director Danny Boyle’s opening extravaganza to ensure that spectators are on their way home by 12:30am. The cuts, which reportedly add up to 30 minutes, are made to ensure that the program ends on time and prevent transport chaos when the more than 80,000 attendees go on their way home.
