The otherwise peaceful and quiet London Olympic Games was marred by a freak accident on Wednesday night after a cyclist was killed after being hit by an Olympics media shuttle bus just outside the London 2012 complex.
The Olympic flame, which is supposed to be burning for the entire duration of the Olympic Games, was extinguished on Sunday evening for safety reasons as the cauldron was transferred to another part of the Olympic Stadium. Olympic organisers confirmed the reports after some eyewitness raised concerns when they saw the cauldron unlit at around 11.14pm on Sunday.
